What is Bipolar 2?

Bipolar II Disorder is a type of bipolar disorder characterized by at least one major depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode. Hypomanic episodes are less severe than manic episodes and do not require hospitalization. Individuals with Bipolar II do not experience the full-blown manic episodes seen in Bipolar I and symptoms do not last as long as those with Bipolar I Disorder.
